Introduction of Black silicon carbide

Jul 12, 2022
Black silicon carbide is made of quartz sand, petroleum coke and high-quality silica as the main raw materials, and is smelted at high temperature in a resistance furnace. Its hardness is between corundum and diamond, its mechanical strength is higher than corundum, it is brittle and sharp, its chemical function is stable, its thermal conductivity is high, its thermal expansion coefficient is small, and its wear resistance is good. It can be used for polishing abrasive materials, refractory materials, metallurgical mineral processing, etc. It can also be used in the cutting and precision grinding of crystals, the processing of hard glass and superhard metals, the processing of soft metals such as copper and copper alloys, and the processing of various resin materials.

Grain size of black silicon carbide abrasive :
According to particle size, it can be divided into segment sand, pure sand, micro powder, fine powder.
The common particle size of segment sand is 0-1 1-3 3-5 5-8 8-12mm, which is generally used for refractory materials, etc.
The common particle size of pure sand is 16 mesh, 24 mesh, 30 mesh, 36 mesh, 60 mesh, 80 mesh, etc.
For the production of coated abrasives, such as grinding wheels and abrasive cloth cutting discs.
The commonly used particle sizes of black silicon carbide micropowder are 325 mesh, 600 mesh, 800 mesh, 1000 mesh, 2000 mesh, etc. It is mainly used for fine grinding and the production of advanced abrasives.

Production process of black silicon carbide
High temperature smelting - crushing - fine crushing - screening - grinding.
High-temperature smelting: The silicon carbide raw materials (quartz sand, petroleum coke, silica, etc.) are mixed in a certain proportion, and then sent to the resistance furnace for high-temperature smelting. The finished product after smelting is silicon carbide blocks.
Crushing: Silicon carbide has high hardness, which is between white corundum and diamond, and the block is relatively large. It is difficult for ordinary crushers to crush it. It needs to be roughly crushed with a jaw crusher.
Fine crushing: After the silicon carbide is coarsely crushed, it needs to be crushed by a cone crusher. The cone crusher can crush the silicon carbide into various specifications.
Screening: The finely crushed silicon carbide is screened by particle size, and then sieved into silicon carbide sand with different particle sizes.
